Loving Our Neighbors By Sharing God’s Truth

Loving Our Neighbors By Sharing God’s Truth

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Matthew 28:19–20

If someone new moved into your neighborhood and you wanted to be a good neighbor, you’d probably show him or her the ropes. You’d recommend the closest grocery store, the best plumber, or a great babysitter. How much more should we tell our spiritual neighbors where to find the ultimate Good in life?

Today’s passage, also called the Great Commission, is directly related to the Greatest Commandments—love God and love your neighbor. If you love your neighbors as yourself, you will want them to know the good things you’ve experienced, like salvation from your sins and how to live in God’s loving presence. And He will empower you with His Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).

Ask God to help you show love to your neighbors by discipling them—pointing them to the life-saving power of Jesus. Let your heart get excited to share, to lead others to Jesus, and to teach them to follow Him. If you are discipling people, you are loving them with your actions and passing on the greatest gift you’ve ever been given.

Thank You, God, that when You call Your people to do something, You enable us to do it. Please give me the courage and the words I need to share Your life-transforming truth.
