He Will Show You

He Will Show You

The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.”

Genesis 12:1

In my early years of ministry, I became a woman with a mission. My pastor had entrusted me with a new and big responsibility: I was to open a youth center.

I was scared and excited, and I decided to put into practice what I’d been reading in God’s Word and hearing preached. I would approach this project as a step of faith. I would enter this unexplored territory the way Abram left his country—without a map or itinerary, not knowing where I was going. My daily prayer time took on a new focus: Dear God, please show me what to do.

What a change! The old Christine would have relied on her own strengths and resources, however limited both were. But that old Christine was shrinking, as Christin me was growing larger. I was now willing to admit my weakness and ask God and others for help. I was daring to take a step of faith, confident it would lead to another and willing to begin God’s on-the-job training. I was learning a new lesson: rely on God’s power, not your own.

I believe He wants you to live out that lesson as well. It’s one more way you build unshakeable faith.

Lord God, I want to rely on Your power today rather than my own.
