Come Near To God
Come Near To God
Come near to God and he will come near to you.
James 4:8
Years ago, when I was in Bible college, I was able to spend two or three hours a day praying and studying the Word. After graduating, I stepped into full-time ministry . . . and then I got married . . . and then I had kids . . . and then . . . and then . . . and then . . . Once life happened, it became harder and harder to spend time with God. I bet life happened to you too.
We know in our heads that spending time with God is the most important thing we can do in a twenty-four-hour period. And we know how hard it is to make that happen—and I say we. I’m not here to condemn or make you feel guilty. I’m here to offer words of freedom: disregard legalism, find what works for you in this season of life, and don’t feel guilty about whatever you land on! There is no correct formula for drawing near to God—not a time of day, not a place in your home, not a formula of any kind. So do whatever you need to do to walk closely with Him.
Be creative. Be free. Just make time with your heavenly Father, so you can find the strength, wisdom, peace, direction, and joy to help you navigate this season of life.
Lord God, thank You for coming near to me as I draw near to You. Show me the best way to spend time with You now in this season of my life.
