Building On A Sure Foundation

“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

Matthew 7:24

You and I live in uncertain times—so it’s a good thing our faith is built on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. All around us are unprecedented political, social, moral, educational, environmental, and spiritual ideas, theories, movements, and change. The spiritual tectonic plates of the earth have shifted, and they are never going back to the way they were. We are living in a new era. So, to stay steadfast in our faith and immovable in our commitment to Jesus, we need to be empowered by the Holy Spirit and follow His leading.

That doesn’t mean we disengage from the world (John 17:18). Quite the contrary. To live victoriously, we must not only understand our world but also know how to live in it.

What it does mean is that we need to draw closer to God than ever before. Let’s refocus on Him and establish ourselves in His Word. Let’s look to Him for comfort, wisdom, insight, and discernment to navigate these uncertain times. Let’s remember that when we simply do not know what to do, He always does. We can always go to Him for counsel, direction, and guidance. His truth is timeless and eternal, and His leading is sure.

Lord, show me how to build my life on Your truth and follow in Your ways. You alone offer a strong foundation.
