Something Good Is Going On

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:28

Romans 8:28 definitely makes the top ten in my Precious Personal Promise list. I memorized this verse as a young Christian, and it has truly given me courage in every difficult situation. I know for a fact that even if I can’t see any good in my circumstances when I am in the midst of them, God is working behind the scenes for my good.

I love going to stage productions. Part of my fascination is how quickly the stage crew can change scenes. Everything grows dark for a few moments, and then—all of a sudden—the curtain opens, the lights come on, and the audience sees a whole new world!

Whatever scene God’s children are in, change is coming. We can find hope not only in that, but even more so in His promise that the final scene change will be phenomenal! Isn’t this encouraging? No matter what happens to us on earth, we will come out ahead in the end as His children.

Who else can promise gain in loss? Who else can promise beauty in ugliness? Who else can promise joy in sorrow? Only God!

By dwelling daily on the promise of Romans 8:28, we can encourage ourselves in the Lord, no matter what. Something good is always going on with God.
