Part 2: Apology To A Teenager

Let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!

John 8:7

My dearest, sweetest Special K,

I just poured out my heart to God, which usually happens after I read His Word and I am reminded of what I am really like and how much I need Him. If He treated me as my sins deserve, I would not even be here. But in His mercy and great love for me, I am totally forgiven.

I must admit, my tendency to be easily angered is a true weakness and character flaw, and I am so sorry that I hurt you with my shortcoming. It seems like I should be further along in modeling a Christlike attitude, but I am not. However, I am meditating on these Scriptures to help me grow:

Short-tempered people do foolish things. Proverbs 14:17

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare. Proverbs 15:1

A hot-tempered person starts fights; a cool-tempered person stops them. Proverbs 15:18

Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs. Proverbs 19:11

I am thankful that my sins do not surprise Jesus. In the history of humanity, no one has been perfect except Him. All my Bible heroes had weaknesses too. Good old Moses never even saw the Promised Land, because in his anger he struck the rock instead of speaking to it as God commanded.

I’m so ashamed of my failures. Please know my great love for you and the fact that I love the woman you are becoming. . . .
