Most High Expectations
Most High Expectations
When you came down long ago, you did awesome deeds beyond our highest expectations. And oh, how the mountains quaked! For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!
Isaiah 64:3-4
I was disappointed when I arrived home with the wrong size sweater in my shopping bag. I went back to the store to exchange it with an expectation that when I returned “their mistake” to the store, they would say, “Oh, we are so sorry. Please enjoy a 10-percent discount on your next purchase.” I was shocked when this did not happen!
Recently I read an article about customer service. The article contained an invitation to a public meeting to share thoughts about customer service and answer questions such as “Who treats you well and poorly?” and “What are your expectations, and have they changed?” We all long for good customer service, and most of us know some sweet companies that have flourished based on this marketable commodity.
You and I have expectations of people as well as of retail stores. There is no perfect company this side of heaven because there are no perfect people. But we have an expert model to follow in customer service, and that expert is Jesus Christ. He will always exceed our highest expectation. Everything He does is right. He does not tire of serving His children.
The list goes on and on of what we can expect from Him. He is true to His name: Most High. We can have the most high expectations from the Most High God.
Thank God, we can have the highest expectations of Him and His wonderful work on our behalf! For more about all we can expect from the Lord, read Ephesians 1:3. How can having a Most High perspective instead of our own help us live free from unrealistic expectations of others? How can we learn from His example of service and develop a heart that lives to serve Him and others?
