Christ: Our Common Denominator
Christ: Our Common Denominator
You are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:26-28
No matter where we are in God’s big world, when we meet another believer in Christ, we automatically connect! Why wouldn’t we? We have the greatest relationship in common—a relationship with Jesus!
Jesus affects our relationships with others and the choices we make for the rest of our lives. When each of us is following Him in obedience to His Word, we are of one heart and mind. We may be total opposites in personality, height, weight, and interests. We may live on different continents. We may go years without meeting again; but if we do, we pick up where life left off because of Christ, our Common Denominator.
Apart from Christ, this kind of unity does not happen. Believers effectively serve each other and reach out together as we truly are in the “Lord’s army” together.
What a privilege to be on the same team—no matter what. We are able to instantly connect because we are one in Christ. Our connection in Him transcends denominational differences, history, geography, and hardship. To me, caring connections provide some of the most refreshing pick-me-ups in our difficult lives. Wherever we go, Christ is the Common Denominator linking His followers forever!
Second Timothy 2:3-4 explains more about the army of God we are part of. Thank the Lord today that you have the power of His Spirit, His entire heavenly army, and His entire earthly army to support you through life.
