Makeover Takeover: Foundation

Whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:10-11

I had so much fun at spa day yesterday that I think we ought to continue it today with some help about our foundation.

It is amazing how many foundation formulas are available today. There are liquid and gel foundations, mineral powder foundations, mousse-like foam foundations, foundations with sunscreen, and anti-aging formulas. And the colors—such variety!

I need help from an expert to choose the right foundation. Thinking about all the varieties makes my head spin. In fact, most days I am lazy about applying foundation and just don’t do it because I have not taken the time to ask a professional for help to select the right color and formula.

There is only one Foundation that we all need. Jesus Christ is the Foundation that fits everyone! He is the only Person capable of creating the right Foundation for life. He shields us from the winds and weather that storm around us and ensures that our beauty will last. He keeps us from absorbing the dirt and debris we are certain to encounter.

As our Foundation, He stays on forever, which is wonderful news to wake up to every morning. Our Foundation is sure—a perfect match—a covering for our sin and a smoothing out of our rough spots.

Practical tip: if you are applying foundation this morning, always check under your nose in the mirror because foundation has a tendency to clog there. Now smile in the mirror because Jesus is your true Foundation! With Him you can literally face whatever comes your way, trusting that He will not fade in power.
