Makeover Takeover: Eyes

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.

Today the eyes have it!

I think the application of eye makeup is the most time-consuming part of our makeover because it involves several stages. In fact, I just discovered one more step I need to add to my regimen. A friend just told me about using eye shadow primer to prevent eye shadow creases. Oh great, what else do I need to add to this already cumbersome routine?

After the primer comes the shadow and possibly liner. My sweet sister, Shawn, recommends brown shadow for liner, which she applies with a small paintbrush from a craft store. Apparently it doesn’t smudge like the pencils! Mascara is next, and to top it all off, we can’t forget our brows because they frame the eyes. Oops—I forgot the eyelash curler! Did you know that you can lightly heat your eyelash curler with your blow-dryer before curling lashes? It works great, as long as you test it first to make sure it’s not too hot, or you’ll burn your eyelid like I did!

Whether you’re getting ready for the day or heading to bed, look straight in the mirror, child of God, and know that “the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.”

Those of us who are in Christ are the righteous, in right standing with God. His eyes are zeroed in on you and me, and He hears every cry of our heart, silent or sobbing! He sees when our eyes sparkle with His love and joy. He sees when they fill with tears of sorrow.

When we “put on our eyes,” let’s remember that God’s eyes are on us. Let’s keep our eyes open to see how we can love others with His love.
