Just Sayin’ . . .

God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times: Power, O God, belongs to you.

Psalm 62:11

Almost every day I seem to hear someone make a point with the words, “Just sayin’.” And every time it makes me smile.

At the end of Psalm 62, King David was just sayin’ that power belongs to God, and so does unfailing love! David knew who loved him and where to find his strength. He knew it as a shepherd boy when he faced the giant Goliath, and he knew it as a king facing enemies from all sides. He knew the only place to safely hide was in the shelter of the almighty God. And he knew that when the fortress of his palace came tumbling down, his real fortress, God Himself, would stand unharmed (verse 6)!

Whenever we hear “just sayin’,” we can be reminded to reread the wonderful Bible stories where we see God’s love and power in action. These true accounts help us know God’s unchanging character and give us the Christ-confidence we need to trust that God will be powerful and loving in our situations too!

When you have time, go back and read all of Psalm 62 and mark David’s repeated phrases where he reminds himself that God alone is his rock and salvation. We can take this timely tip from David by daily remembering that God is strong and loving even when we feel weak and unloved. With Christ in us and our strong Father’s loving presence holding us up, we can believe and trust that He will make all things well, even if they are not right now.

So next time we're working out with our five-pound weights, we can visualize ourselves building up our spiritual muscles:

“My God is strong!” (right arm curl).

“My God is loving!” (left arm curl).

God said it. So be it. Just sayin’ it’s true.

Read through a couple of Psalms or turn to a favorite Bible story and write down three more truths that God is just sayin’, words that you can take comfort from today. Just sayin’.
