God's Children
God's Children
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
1 John 3:1
Do you ever get stuck in a rut, feeling like you’re nothing special? Like no one would miss you if you disappeared or that life would be better for others if you actually did? It’s easy to feel dragged down by wounded self-esteem. My heart goes out to any and all of us who have had even fleeting feelings like that. Many people who don’t feel special at all would do whatever they could to feel even moderately special. Imagine how much richer our lives would be if we understood how incredibly special we are to God!
Losing an earthly father or never knowing one does not mean we are no longer cherished by anyone. If we are God’s children through our faith in Jesus, then we are 100 percent adopted into the family of Almighty God. God, our heavenly Father, treasures His children. When we dwell on the fact that we are very precious to God, our self-worth increases simply because we know we belong to Him.
And oh, how God wants us to belong to Him! He is the perfect Father for all His children, each son and daughter designed differently. And yet we all look the same to God, perfect in Christ Jesus.
He knows us inside and out because He uniquely designed us in His own image, for the extraordinary purpose of bringing Him glory.
Rejoice today that in Christ we are part of God’s family, His dearly loved children.
