God Threw His Own Tea Party . . .
God Threw His Own Tea Party . . .
Is anything too hard for the LORD?
Genesis 18:14
On sweet May 16, 2005, the tenth anniversary of Sweet Monday, 7,250 pink-clad people broke a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest tea party. Our cups were truly overflowing! It was as though God threw His own tea party and let us attend! Only He could do so much with so little. He certainly multiplied our five cupcakes and two pieces of candy with Ukrop’s butterstar cookies with pink dollop and sweet tea.
We would have missed the joy that comes from obedience if we had not stepped out in faith. Personally, I really did not want to do it at first. I told God that not even a pinkie fingernail of mine felt like hosting a tea party while going through chemotherapy, but if He wanted me to do it, I was willing. I begged Him to please let me know for sure!
Jesus says in John 15:5 that we can do nothing apart from Him. I did not want to invest a lot of time if my efforts did not count in God’s eternal economy. If He was not in it, I did not want to move forward.
The next morning when I opened my Bible, the first verse I read for that day’s passage was today’s verse: “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” A tear ran down my cheek and I said, “Lord, is that You? Are You telling me to take the next baby step of faith?”
I made one phone call to a volunteer, and three days later the University of Richmond in Virginia called and offered their basketball arena—the Robins Center—for this big step of faith. As it turned out, we still didn’t have enough parking or policemen for all the traffic, and our community was tickled pink by our big God!
What issue in your life seems too hard to accomplish, fix, or heal? Ask yourself, Is anything too hard for the Lord? Answer out loud with a resounding no! Then ask Him to show you His power and guidance in your situation, whether it be a tea party or trouble.
