Do You Have Reservations?
Do You Have Reservations?
There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
John 14:2-3
My husband is a very funny man with a quick wit. We’ve been married almost thirty years, and in certain situations I still cannot tell if he is teasing me.
The day before Mother’s Day one year, Mark was frantically trying to get lunch reservations for our family to dine after church. He confidently advised me to give him a little credit because he was ahead of all the guys who waited until the day of the special occasion! When Mark was on the phone, he was talking loudly so Kali and I could hear everything clearly.
“Oh, is this the kind of restaurant where the portions are very small and it is very expensive? Well, that sounds just like the kind of place my girls like to eat!” I looked at Kali in horror, and she returned the same look to me. We were waving no, no, no in the background, trying to get Mark to hang up the phone!
But he got us good. We didn’t know until he hung up the phone that he had been playing a joke on us. There wasn’t anyone on the other end of the phone line when he called! Oh, the gift of laughter. It is so precious.
Did you know that God has reserved a place for each one of His children in His house? The comfort Jesus offered to His disciples before His crucifixion assures us today that there is more than enough room for all who trust Him as Savior. Not only that, He’s getting His place all ready for us, and He will pick us up at just the right time.
Philippians 3:20-21 gives more clarity about what Jesus is preparing for those who believe in Him as Savior. What are you looking forward to most about your eternal reservation with Jesus? If you are not sure yours has been made, read John 3:16.
