Sweet Slippers

Sweet Slippers

Be still, and know that I am God!

Psalm 46:10

Back in college, my roommates used to tell me I walked hard! I would wake my friends with my stomping without even realizing I was doing it. My exuberance seemed to be coming out of my feet! Over the years, I’ve tried to help soften my tread with slippers. I have quite a few pairs. Not only do I appreciate how the slippers muffle the sound of my feet, but I also love the soft, cushiony feel of them. I’ll take slippers over bare feet anytime!

As much as I love comfortable slippers, I am even more thankful that each new day God cushions me with His presence. The Creator of all—all that we see and all that we don’t see, the Creator of me and the Creator of you—is our personal God. We can know Him and experience His comfort each day. He softens the rough way before us and helps us learn how to tread lightheartedly and gently around others.

Every day I am grateful to know Him but far more thankful that He knows me and loves me perfectly. He knows and loves you perfectly, too, more than anyone else in this world. He sees all that will transpire in our chaotic days that may threaten our ability to walk through the challenges.

God wants us to stop our perpetual moving and reflect on who He is. I think He wants us to literally stop all activity and know that He is God! When we do, He’ll help us walk in His grace and rest in His strong arms, with slippers or not.

Slip into God’s Word daily. Laugh, cry, and allow Him to encourage your heart. Then, when we put on our cute, regular shoes to carry out His plans, we can be the feet that bring Good News!
