Craving Simplicity

Craving Simplicity

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:33

Wow! Nothing simplifies priorities more than what Jesus says in today’s verse. Nothing motivates me to change more than God does through His Word. Why? A personal relationship with Jesus changes everything. It refocuses our commitments, our routines, our schedules, our relationships, and our bad habits. These things may not change overnight, but as we seek the Kingdom of God and live righteous lives by obedience to God’s commands, He starts to change us from within.

Just think back. If you have known Christ for a while, have you been able to stop a bad habit that used to consume you a few years ago? Or are you doing something good now that you never would have seen yourself doing?

Even though I had my own dreams of what my “perfect” life should look like, God had greater plans. I never dreamed I would be the mother of an only child. I thought I would have enough children for at least a small parade, where I could dress them all alike. Instead of a long line of children, God has brought lots of sweet women in and out of our home on the first Monday of each month for Sweet Monday so I can be a tiny bridge between those who know Christ and those who need to know Him. This fun event is also a sweet and simple way to serve the Lord in my church as an outreach, a time when women can laugh a lot, learn from each other, and leave with an introduction to Jesus Christ. It’s not anything like the family parade I imagined, but I know it’s a movement that God gave me as He changed my priorities and showed me His vision for my life.

Today, initiate a conversation with a new person and invite her to your home for Sweet Monday or for a cup of coffee or tea.
