Meditation Moment: Psalm 119:105-112

Conrad Hubert was the first person to bring flashlights into the world in 1903. To test them out, he gave a bunch of flashlights to some police officers to use while they patrolled the streets of New York City at night. The officers found the portable lights to be really helpful for their work. Now most people have a flashlight of some sort in their home, car, purse, or even on their keychain. I have a flashlight application on my iPhone! It’s good always to have a light handy that you don’t have to plug into an electrical outlet.

Psalm 119:105 says that God’s Word is like a powerful source of light. It’s always ready to show us which direction we should go. As you meditate on God’s Word today, remember to ask God to speak to you before you dive in. As you read this psalm, you will notice how passionately the psalm writer loves God’s Word. When the psalm mentions God’s “laws” or “decrees,” those are all references to the Scriptures. Take a moment to just focus on this section of Psalm 119, and then wait to see what God speaks to you about it through an idea, thought, picture, or anything else. Remember to write down what God teaches you, if you would like.
