Keep On Knockin’
Keep on Knockin’
Bible Blast: Read Matthew 7:7-11
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
I have a friend named Andy Mylin. He actually works at my ministry with me. Well, ten years ago, God gave him a dream: to raft through the Grand Canyon in the river down in the bottom. To fulfill his dream, Andy needed to take a lot of time off work after saving up enough money to pay for such a trip, which requires a lot of special equipment and a private guide. So at the age of twenty-eight, Andy began praying that he’d be able to take this trip before he turned thirty-eight.
A few years ago, God prompted my husband and me to offer all of our full-time staff a one-month Adventure (or sabbatical) Plan to refresh themselves. Since we minister to roughly sixty-five high school students daily at our local ministry and take many long nights and trips for our tween and teen ministry nationwide, our staff needs special time to rest as God commands us to do. (We rarely work normal hours.) After several years of praying, Andy had the time to go on the trip available to him, thanks to our Adventure Plan. He just needed the money.
His sabbatical was coming up the year that my friends at Tyndale asked me to write this devo for you. Guess what? Not knowing that Andy had this dream and didn’t have the money for the trip, I was led by God to ask his wife to help me write this book with me. The money I’m paying her to help me was enough to pay for Andy’s adventure! Just about the time the first girls and moms read this, Andy will be hiking several hours to the base of the Grand Canyon, breaking out his camping gear, and checking out his raft! After almost ten years of asking, God finally opened the door for this unique dream!
If there is something you desire that seems impossible, keep asking.
