He’s God, And We’re Not
He’s God, and We’re Not
Bible Blast: Read Isaiah 40:12-15
Has the LORD ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Isaiah 40:14
I love to read letters that kids write to God. Here are some of my favorites:
“Dear God, If you will watch in church on Sunday, I will show you my new shoes.”
“Dear God, Instead of letting people die and having to make new ones, why don’t you just keep the ones you got now?”
“Dear God, Thank you for the baby brother, but what I prayed for was a puppy.”
Aren’t those great?
A lot of people wish they could write letters to God so they could tell him how to do his job. There are a lot of problems with wishing you were God or thinking that you’re smarter than God. First of all, that kind of behavior is exactly what got Satan kicked out of heaven. If you want to be God, you’re going to have a very hard time being close to him.
Remember that you are human and even though your brain is amazing, you’re not smarter than God. God created you. You didn’t create him. There’s no way in the world you could ever know as much as he does. You can’t see everything that goes on everywhere all the time the way he can. You can’t always see how a bad thing that happens today can end up being a really great thing for your future life, but God can. Ecclesiastes 5:2 says, “God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few.”
Finally, keep in mind what you learned in today’s Bible Blast: God’s power and size is much greater than yours. It’s amazing to think that God is so big the oceans fit in his hands and the earth is like a grain of sand compared to him. That doesn’t mean the earth isn’t important to him, but it does mean he’s far more important and more powerful than anything or anyone on the earth.
Be happy today that your God is gigantic and he loves you sooo much!
Girl Gab: If you wrote a letter to God, what would it say? What questions would you ask? Today tell God how you feel about his power and bigness.
