Meditation Moment: Proverbs 15
Meditation Moment: Proverbs 15
If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding. Proverbs 15:32
Okay, let’s just imagine that you keep forgetting to feed your hamster. (It doesn’t matter if you have a hamster. We’re imagining.) Let’s say your mom notices that “Mighty Mouse” has almost died twice from starvation. So you get in trouble. Mom no longer feeds you dinner unless you have fed Mighty Mouse. After two days of being very hungry at bedtime, you start remembering. Now your dear furry friend is much better off. What your mom did to help you make a change in your habits is called discipline. Discipline is good for you and for everyone else who comes into contact with you!
When you are disciplined, it’s a chance to grow up a little. People who are never disciplined have a hard time maturing into adults because they never really learn how their actions affect other people. In short, they stay somewhat selfish.
Today you get to meditate about the idea of discipline. That may not sound like fun, but God has stuff to teach you today, so open your ears and your heart.
Take a moment to pray. Now read Proverbs 15:32 a couple of times. Ask God to speak to you through an idea, thought, picture, or whatever. Then wait and see what he says to you. Go ahead and write it down.
Girl Gab: Talk to your mom about discipline. Ask her how her parents handled discipline when she was growing up. Ask God to help you learn how to love discipline and to make you wise.
