Prayer = Love

Bible Blast: Read Psalm 18:1-6

In my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears. Psalm 18:6

Emma is a beautiful preteen girl. She has thick, gorgeous hair. Her smile is warm like a sunshiny day, and her eyes—oh my! They’re the biggest, bluest eyes ever, and they sparkle behind her superadorable glasses. But even more than her outside, Emma has a stunningly beautiful heart.

Emma found out about a girl who was having some health problems. The girl’s family didn’t have a lot of money, so it was hard for her to get the medical help she needed. Emma went home and told her mom about it. Emma knew her church had money set aside to help people like her new friend. She had her parents call and offer that money to the girl’s family. Emma even spoke to her teacher about it, hoping she could help.

All those things are fantastic! But Emma did one thing that was the most important thing she could do for that girl and her family. She started to pray. God actually worked out a way for Emma to get to know the girl and her family even better!

Don’t catch yourself saying things like, “Well, all I can do is pray.” Prayer is the absolute most amazingly powerful thing you can do! When you pray to God, you’re going to the one with more power and love than anyone else and asking him to help. And since he’s so full of love for you, he answers those prayers!

Your prayers for others don’t need to be superlong and packed full of fancy words. Just talk to God. If you want God to heal someone, just ask God to heal that person. He can see your heart, and that’s what matters the most.
