Banana Fingers
Banana Fingers
Bible Blast: Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-9
This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
Give me a hand, will you? I mean a hand of bananas. That’s what a cluster of bananas is called, and the bananas are called fingers! The next time you see a bunch of bananas, you’ll notice it really does kind of look like a group of yellow fingers.
I learned that the way I’ve always eaten a banana may not be the best way. I usually hold it by the bottom, dig my fingernail in the stem part, and peel it like that. But did you know banana experts say to eat it differently? You do know who the banana experts are, don’t you? Monkeys, of course! If you watch a monkey eat a banana, it holds the stem part like a handle and peels it from the other end. If you try it, it’s actually a lot easier! The other reason I like eating a banana like that is because that little seed part is exposed right away so you can get rid of it if you don’t like to eat it.
Americans eat more bananas than any other fruit. We each eat about five thousand bananas in our lives! Even if you don’t appreciate the sweet taste of a banana, you have to admit that God designed them perfectly. They have their own cases to protect the fruit from getting nasty. You don’t have to wash it, because you only eat the inside. Bananas aren’t juicy, so you don’t have to worry about dripping on your clothes. We can buy them all year long. They’re packed with some good vitamins. And a banana has a perfect handle so your hands don’t have to get dirty. That’s pretty wonderful!
The banana is just one small example of God’s perfect provision for us. He gives us everything we need and more. When he provides something, it’s always exactly right.
So if you ask God for a friend and the person he brings you isn’t the kind of person you would typically hang out with, remember that God’s gifts are good. Get to know that girl, and discover why God brought her into your life.
