Trust

Trust

How can I avoid trusting in the wrong people or the wrong things?

God’s Response

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Without consulting me, you have gone down to Egypt to find help. You have put your trust in Pharaoh for his protection. But in trusting Pharaoh, you will be humiliated and disgraced. Isaiah 30:2-3

This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans and turn their hearts away from the LORD.” Jeremiah 17:5

The wrong things in life often seem attractive to the human heart and mind, making us gullible. That is why it is so important to weigh what you hear, using God’s Word as the standard of truth. It is also wise to seek advice from godly people who follow the Lord closely. Then you won’t worry about following the wrong people or things.

God’s Promise

It is better to trust the LORD than to put confidence in people. It is better to trust the LORD than to put confidence in princes. Psalm 118:8-9
