Salt And Light
Salt and Light
How can I help people understand their need to trust in God?
God’s Response
You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? . . . You are the light of the world. . . . Don’t hide your light under a basket! . . . Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:13-16
Jesus shouted to the crowds, “If you trust me, you are really trusting God who sent me. For when you see me, you are seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the darkness.” John 12:44-46
You can’t make people trust in God, but you can facilitate the process if you faithfully reflect Jesus’ love. When others see the love of Jesus in you, many will want to know what makes you so different. People will be attracted to a beacon of light that offers hope for a safe journey in a dark world. When they come to you because of the light of Jesus, use Jesus’ words to tell them about their need for God.
God’s Promise
I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the LORD because he has been so good to me. Psalm 13:5-6
