Mercy

Mercy

What is the difference between God’s justice, mercy, and grace?

God’s Response

The dead were judged according to the things written in the books, according to what they had done. Revelation 20:12

The LORD is merciful and gracious; he is slow to get angry and full of unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He has not punished us for all our sins, nor does he deal with us as we deserve. Psalm 103:8-10

God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9

Justice would give us what we deserve. Mercy holds back from giving us what we deserve. Grace gives us what we do not deserve.

God’s Promise

The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Lamentations 3:22
