Why does character matter?
God’s Response
My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart, for they will give you a long and satisfying life. Never let loyalty and kindness get away from you! Wear them like a necklace; write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will gain a good reputation. Proverbs 3:1-4
When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23
People often argue that someone’s personal life does not matter as long as they perform well on the job or look good in public. God, however, does not make a distinction between your public and private life. Justice, righteousness, integrity, mercy, honesty, fairness, and faithfulness are essential traits of a godly person’s character because they reflect God’s character. You are a person of good character when you display the same godly integrity in private as you do in public.
God’s Promise
Even children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct is pure and right. Proverbs 20:11
