Body Of Christ

Body of Christ

Why is it a waste of time to compare ourselves to others?

God’s Response

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up only one body. So it is with the body of Christ. . . . Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. . . . Suppose the whole body were an eye —then how would you hear? . . . But God made our bodies with many parts, and he has put each part just where he wants it. 1 Corinthians 12:12-18

The Church is called the “body of Christ” or the “body of believers,” and is often likened to a person’s physical body in which every part has its specific function. It is foolish to try to determine whether your hand or your foot is more important —you need both. God created you and every other believer to serve a certain role in his Kingdom. Only when you work together will God’s Kingdom grow and flourish!

God’s Promise

Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. Galatians 6:4
