Comparisons

Comparisons

How can I avoid comparing myself to others?

God’s Response

Why do you condemn another Christian? Why do you look down on another Christian? Remember, each of us will stand personally before the judgment seat of God. . . . Yes, each of us will have to give a personal account to God. Romans 14:10, 12

Peter turned around and saw the disciple Jesus loved following. . . . Peter asked Jesus, “What about him, Lord?”Jesus replied, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You follow me.” John 21:20-22

Your life can’t be compared to someone else’s because God created you as a unique individual. When you find your special, God-given purpose, you will not want to be like someone else. When Peter asked Jesus about his fellow disciple John, Jesus told him not to be concerned about anyone else, but just to follow him. Keeping his eyes on Jesus would take him exactly where Jesus wanted him to go. In the same way, Jesus calls you to travel your own distinctive road with him.

God’s Promise

To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life —that is indeed a gift from God. People who do this rarely look with sorrow on the past, for God has given them reasons for joy. Ecclesiastes 5:19-20
