Aggravation

Aggravation

How should I handle it when people aggravate me?

God’s Response

Those who control their anger have great understanding; those with a hasty temper will make mistakes. A relaxed attitude lengthens life; jealousy rots it away. Proverbs 14:29-30

Don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Psalm 4:4

My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19

Aggravation is really a slow-burning anger. The more aggravated you get, the more angry you become until finally you lash out. Suddenly you can be more guilty before God than the one who aggravated you! It is important to recognize aggravation before it gets out of control. When you are aggravated at someone, try these helpful steps —pray for that person, think of something good in that person, and get to know that person. When you learn why they behave a certain way, you may find your aggravation turning to compassion.

God’s Challenge

Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. 1 Corinthians 13:5
