What priorities should I set with my money?

God’s Response

Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! Ecclesiastes 5:10

No one can serve two masters. . . . You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24

Spend, save, and give. Those are the three things you can do with your money. Usually we get those activities backwards. The correct order should be give, save, and spend. If you don’t set priorities for your money, you’ll always spend first and find that you don’t have enough. There is nothing wrong with money, but it is wrong to love money to the point that it controls us. Since your money is a gift from God, make it a goal to give 10 percent of your income back to him—by way of your church or any charity that helps people in Jesus’ name. You may not be able to start there, but make it a goal to get there. Then save 10 percent, and use the rest for your personal needs and entertainment. God will bless you for keeping those priorities and you will have fewer money problems.

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” Hebrews 13:5
