Do The Right Thing
Do the Right Thing
Can I know that I’m doing the right things and making the right choices?
God’s Response
When Athaliah, the mother of King Ahaziah of Judah, learned that her son was dead, she began to destroy the rest of Judah’s royal family. But Ahaziah’s sister Jehosheba . . . took Ahaziah’s infant son, Joash, and stole him away from among the rest of the king’s children, who were about to be killed. . . . In this way, Jehosheba, wife of Jehoiada the priest and sister of Ahaziah, hid the child so that Athaliah could not murder him. 2 Chronicles 22:10-11
Jehosheba did the right thing, almost on impulse. She could not save all of the children, but she could save one. Her act changed the course of the Israelite nation because baby Joash turned into a godly king who made many great reforms. What affects your future the most is what you do right now. Today you can be more obedient to God, and that is always the right thing to do. If you obey him today, you can obey him tomorrow. Each day, as you live out his Word, you follow him in exactly the direction he wants you to go. Then you don’t need to worry about the future because he will be leading you there. Some day you will be able to look back on your life and see how God has led you, step by step.
This Is Promising
Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. Psalm 119:34
