What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?

How should I respond when someone compliments me?

God’s Response

“The great God was showing the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its meaning is certain.” . . .The king said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, the LORD over kings, a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this secret.” Daniel 2:45-47

Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! Psalm 106:1

Daniel received a compliment—he was even being bowed to by the king! However, Daniel let King Nebuchadnezzar know that it was God who had revealed the meaning of the dream, and then the king praised God. When you are complimented, it’s often hard to know how to respond. The best response is simply to say “thank you” and to acknowledge that it is God who enables you. Then don’t forget to pass the compliment on to God with a thankful heart.

This Is Promising

The master said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!” Matthew 25:23
