Constructive Criticism

Constructive Criticism

How can I give constructive criticism without hurting someone’s feelings?

God’s Response

When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. Romans 2:1

First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. Matthew 7:5

There is a time and place for healthy criticism, particularly when people are living sinfully or engaging in behavior that is harmful to themselves or others. Criticism can be redemptive if it is truly constructive. Before criticizing, take inventory of your own sins so that you can approach the person with understanding and humility. Then make sure that your words are focused on helping them become all God wants them to be, and not on tearing them down or demeaning them. Constructive criticism should always be given in a spirit of love.

This Is Promising

Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing. Proverbs 12:18
