If God really loves me, why do I feel so uncertain?

God’s Response

As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the LORD, and they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? . . . Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’ ” Exodus 14:10-12

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen. Hebrews 11:1

If you had asked the Israelites at that moment if God loved them, they would have responded that it certainly didn’t feel like it—not with all that was going wrong for them just then. Moses knew enough to trust God and his promises. Don’t depend on your feelings or your circumstances to feel loved. Instead, remember all that God has done to show his love for you, and trust that he knows what is best for you. Feelings will come and go, but God is faithful!

This Is Promising
