Should I tell someone about the illegal things my friends are doing? Wouldn’t that mean I was betraying them?

God’s Response

Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Matthew 7:12

You have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. Galatians 5:13

There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

This is never easy. Sometimes being a true friend means doing something your friends won’t understand. Which is more important to you—the safety and health of your friends, or keeping them from getting mad at you? Are your friends headed for serious trouble? Could their actions hurt someone else? If so, you must try to stop them before things get worse. Think of it this way: Would you want someone to stop you before a little problem became a huge problem that could hurt you or those around you? Being a friend sometimes means doing the hard thing for the greater good.
