Stepping Out

Stepping Out

Does God forgive me when I disappoint him?

God’s Response

The LORD became angry with Moses. “All right,” he said. “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he speaks well. . . . Talk to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will instruct you both in what to do.” Exodus 4:14-15

Moses climbed the mountain to appear before God. Exodus 19:3

God had a task for Moses, and Moses didn’t want it. God finally agreed to let Aaron go along and speak for Moses, whose feelings of inadequacy were so strong that he could not trust God to help him. But give Moses some credit—he still stepped out and followed where God led. God forgave Moses’ lack of trust and used him greatly. Moses needed his brother to go along for a shot of self-confidence, but he went, and God used him to rescue an entire nation from slavery. When you know your sins have disappointed God, don’t give up. Keep stepping out toward God, who will forgive you and continue to work through you, often in marvelous ways.
