Shining Your Light
Shining Your Light
How should I treat the people I know who are homosexuals?
God’s Response
You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. Matthew 5:14-15
When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. . . . For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.” Matthew 9:12-13
As a Christian, you are called to be a light that attracts people. You can be a kind friend to those you know who are homosexual, and you can treat them as Christ treated everyone with whom he came in contact. Don’t compromise your beliefs, and don’t preach to your friends, telling them how evil and wrong they are. If lived as Jesus lived it, Christianity is attractive to others. They will want to know what makes you different.
This Is Promising
Now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. John 13:34
