Satan’s Power

Satan’s Power

How powerful is Satan?

God’s Response

“All right, do with him as you please,” the LORD said to Satan. “But spare his life.” Job 2:6

When Jesus arrived on the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gadarenes, two men who were possessed by demons met him. They lived in a cemetery and were so violent that no one could go through that area. Matthew 8:28

The Accuser, Satan, was there at the angel’s right hand, making accusations against Jeshua. And the LORD said to Satan, “I, the LORD, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you.” Zechariah 3:1-2

We make three common mistakes about Satan—we underestimate his power, we overestimate his power, or we ignore him altogether. Satan is very powerful. Only God is more powerful, so if you don’t have God in your life, you are in danger of being overwhelmed by Satan’s temptations. You can’t handle Satan on your own, but Satan is limited by God and can only do what God permits him to do. With Jesus in your heart, Satan cannot control you. Be alert to his daily temptations, and realize that the power of Jesus in your life can render Satan ineffective.
