Of what benefit are the rules God sets in the Bible?

God’s Response

The LORD God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” Genesis 2:16-17

Obey the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good. Deuteronomy 10:13

When you were little, your parents may have had a rule about not playing in the street. The rule was not made to wreck your fun, but to keep you safe and alive so you could have more fun for a longer period of time! The rule was made out of love. The same is true of God’s rules. He makes them so your life can be safer, more enjoyable, and more fulfilling. After all, he created life, so he knows how you can get the most out of it. So start reading God’s rule book, the Bible, and enjoy life to its fullest.
