On My Own?
On My Own?
Can I be an independent adult when I’m dependent on God?
God’s Response
I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. . . . Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:1, 4-5
As an adult, you are (or will be) independent and making many of your own decisions. Your dependence on Jesus does not make you less independent; rather, it makes your decisions good, safe, and purposeful. Being dependent on Jesus is much like being a branch attached to a vine—you will get your spiritual strength and nourishment from God, and this will allow you to make the most of your decisions.
This Is Promising
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
