My Own Fault
My Own Fault
What happens if I’m in trouble because it’s my fault and I did something stupid? Will God help me, or is it up to me to figure it out?
God’s Response
The LORD gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh.” . . .But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the LORD. Jonah 1:1-3
The LORD had arranged for a great fish to swallow Jonah. . . . Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from inside the fish. He said, “I cried out to the LORD in my great trouble, and he answered me.” Jonah 1:17–2:2
If you’ve done something stupid and gotten yourself into a difficult situation, by all means call out to God. You may not escape the consequences of your actions, but the best place to be even in a tough time is with God. He can take your trouble and work out something good. You will know that he is present and acting on your behalf when you see good come out of bad circumstances. Then learn from it and determine not to make the same mistake again.
This Is Promising
As my life was slipping away, I remembered the LORD. And my earnest prayer went out to you in your holy Temple. Jonah 2:7
