When I’ve failed, how can I get past it and move on?

God’s Response

Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And he broke down and wept. Mark 14:72

A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.”Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.” John 21:17

Peter had failed miserably. He loved Jesus, but when he realized that being connected with Jesus could put him in deep trouble, he lied his way out. The failure hurt deeply, and Peter probably felt that he was no longer useful to Jesus. He was wrong. Because he humbly repented of his sin, Jesus called him back into service. You may have failed in a friendship, at a test, or in standing for your faith, but failure doesn’t mean you’re finished. Get up, brush yourself off, ask God to forgive you, and let him know that you want to be used by him to accomplish great things.
