What if I fail a test—or a class? Is God disappointed in me?

God’s Response

Abraham introduced his wife, Sarah, by saying, “She is my sister.” Genesis 20:2

Then Moses was afraid, thinking, “Everyone knows what I did.” Exodus 2:14

As Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons to be judges over Israel. . . . But they were not like their father, for they were greedy for money. 1 Samuel 8:1-3

Lots of Bible people failed various “tests.” Abraham lied; Moses committed murder; Samuel failed to discipline his sons. That’s big stuff compared to failing an exam! If you failed a test because of irresponsibility, you did not work as hard as you should have. God knows that you can do better and expects better work from you. However, you may have failed because you didn’t understand the material as well as you thought, or maybe you are just having a rough time—and God understands that, too. Yes, there are times when God is disappointed in us. But God loves you and is your greatest champion. He’s always ready to help you be all he created you to be.

This Is Promising

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23-24
