Messing Up

What happens when I mess up?

God’s Response

Hanani, one of my brothers, came to visit me with some other men who had just arrived from Judah. I asked them about the Jews who had returned there from captivity and about how things were going in Jerusalem. They said to me, “Things are not going well for those who returned to the province of Judah. They are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.” Nehemiah 1:2-3

The people of Israel had messed up—badly. In fact, God punished them by sending them off in captivity to a foreign land and allowing their beloved city of Jerusalem to be destroyed. But God gives second chances. He sent a leader named Nehemiah to provide the plan and the encouragement to help the people rebuild the wall of their city. When you mess up, expect to face the consequences and ask God to help you start again. He is the God of second chances.

This Is Promising

“Yes, let’s rebuild the wall!” So they began the good work. Nehemiah 2:18
