How Much For God?

How Much for God?

I earn hardly any money. Do I have to give some of my money back to God?

God’s Response

You should tithe. Matthew 23:23

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

While you may wonder what value the little bit that you can offer God could have, remember that the purpose of tithing is to give you the privilege of participating in God’s work. God doesn’t need your money—he owns the entire universe. Giving back focuses your attention on God and reminds you that all you have comes from him. A habit of regular tithing keeps God at the top of your priority list and gives you a proper perspective on the rest of your paycheck. Instead of asking, “How much of my money do I need to give to God?” ask yourself, “How much of God’s money do I need to keep?”

This Is Promising

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse. . . . I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! Malachi 3:10
