Holy Living
Holy Living
What does it mean to be holy and live a holy life?
God’s Response
I am writing to . . . you who have been called by God to be his own holy people. He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus, just as he did for all people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:2
You were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:11
I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. Romans 12:1
Think of holiness as both a journey and a destination. To be completely holy is to be sinless, pure, and perfect before God. Of course, none of us is perfect, so that is our ultimate goal for when we stand before God in heaven. Holiness also means being set apart by God for a specific purpose. We are meant to be different from the rest of the world, and in our life journeys, we hope to become a little more pure and sinless each day. If you strive to be holy in your earthly life, you will one day arrive at your final destination to stand as holy before God.
This Is Promising
You must be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy. Leviticus 19:2
