Hard Times

Hard Times

Does God care if I’m going through hard times?

God’s Response

“All right, do with him as you please,” the LORD said to Satan. “But spare his life.” So Satan left the LORD’s presence, and he struck Job with terrible boils from head to foot. . . .His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.”But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong. Job 2:6-10

Sometimes the suffering that comes to us through tough times is not our fault. It just happens. We live in a fallen world where sin is often allowed to run its course, affecting both believers and nonbelievers (Matthew 5:45). God doesn’t want to see us suffer. The great message of the Bible is that he promises to bring comfort, healing, and spiritual maturity through it so that we can be stronger, better able to help others, and live with purpose and meaning. As Christians, we also have God’s promise that this life is not all there is. We have an eternal future in heaven where God will take away all hurt, pain, and suffering.

This Is Promising

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. John 16:33
