God Is My Customer
Does God care how I do my job?
God’s Response
Whatever you do, do well. Ecclesiastes 9:10
Try to please [your earthly masters] all the time, not just when they are watching you. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Ephesians 6:6-7
The desire to work is part of God’s character. God worked to create the world, and he gave work to Adam and Eve even before they sinned. Work brings dignity to people because it fulfills an innate desire to contribute something and to make a difference. The way you go about your work also gives you an opportunity to show others what you think about God. When you do excellent work with a positive attitude and care for other people, you model God’s character and become a witness for him. Are you mowing lawns? Honor God by making his creation look beautiful. Are you waiting tables? Serve your customers as though God were ordering lunch. Doing your work well pleases God and makes more of an impact on people than you realize.
This Is Promising
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Colossians 3:23
