Gentleness

Gentleness

Can I be gentle without being a doormat?

God’s Response

After the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 1 Kings 19:12

He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young. Isaiah 40:11

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare. Proverbs 15:1

Gentleness does not mean being a doormat and letting others walk all over you. God is the perfect example of gentleness, and yet he is also a mighty warrior who is able to defeat the powers of hell. In God’s eyes, gentle people are the most powerful and influential in the world because they make an impact without starting conflict or war. Gentleness may be the most powerful weapon in your arsenal. You accomplish more by gentleness than by coercion.

This Is Promising

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
