Can I confront someone effectively?

God’s Response

They confronted King Uzziah and said, “It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD. That is the work of the priests alone.” 2 Chronicles 26:18

I wrote that letter in great anguish, with a troubled heart and many tears. I didn’t want to grieve you, but I wanted to let you know how much love I have for you. 2 Corinthians 2:4

If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. Matthew 18:15

Love means that you must sometimes confront someone you care about. When you need to do so, check your motives. Make sure that you are going to the person for good reasons and always go in person, as many times the problem is just a miscommunication. Do not gossip about the problem or get others involved. If you must confront, sandwich your concern between words of love and affirmation.
